Well a lot has happened the last two weeks. We have a place in SD now. We signed the lease last week and thanks to my dad cosigning w/ us, we have a home!! Thanks dad! Lets see. We have carpet picked out to replace the stuff we have now. We had thought of just restretching what is already in, but thanks to prev owners who cut the carpet too short, we are going to have to replace it. They had installed pergo, but never got to the hallway. At least the prop management comp we are working w/ is contracted w/ Great Floors so we can get nice carpet at cost (about $8 a sq yard). We already have our cable appt set up when we get into SD so at least we will have TV, phone, and internet. Surprisingly, it is cheaper there than here w/ more benefits! We will have DVR, tons of channels, twice as fast cable internet and the same phone plan for 30 dollars less a month. I figure since CableOne and Qwest is all there is here, there isn't much competition whereas down there there are many different options.
The girls I headed down to UT for fourth of July. It was a split moment decision, but we had a ton of fun. Unfortunately, though, on the way back I ran over something on the road and we got a big fat flat tire. So about twenty minutes west of Snowville UT (near the ID/UT border) the girls I hung out for about an hour waiting for the tow guy to come. After another 45 minutes of the guy getting the spare on (he was slow to say the least) the girls and I headed home going about 50mph the whole way. Now for those of you who think that going slower equals better gas mileage, I have decided that its a wives tale. We went about 80mph down there and got about 24mpg. Before getting back onto the highway, I reset our mpg computer thing and we got about 26mpg going 30mph less! That is sooo not worth it. So really, going 75mph instead of 80 to save on gas is pretty much a joke. Plus, with little kids, everyone wants to get to there location as fast as possible. We ended up getting home a little before 8pm (we left at 845am), but we did stop for real food in Twin Falls so that did added an extra hour to our trip, though, having real food at a real restaraunt was worth it.
Maddie has started swim lessons that my mother in law set up for her. I think the lessons have really boosted her confidence. Now we just need her to use her arms to swim above water. I will have to bring my camera to a lesson so I can put pics up. Also, we are continuing to pack up the house. Last week I packed up all of our everyday china (yes its called that...must be b/c the plates are 30 bucks a piece) and we have been using paper or the girls' princess and other tupperware type kid-proof plates. I have also packed and/or gotten rid of cooking utensils we don't use as much (like our garlic press). The funny thing is that since I packed it all up, it seems like I have needed it. I think maybe it is more like I didn't realize how often I used those things. Oh well. Cheesecake on a paper plate tastes the same as cheesecake on a dessert plate. Well I think I am done now. This cheesecake talk is making want some. Plus, there is probably something good on Bravo right now (a new Project Runway is coming soon!).
